Ankle Joint Replacement
A letter from a patient who had Ankle Joint Replacement performed by Mr Adam Budgen
Dear Mr Budgen
Having had difficulty walking and generally getting around with a worn out ankle joint, I had the opportunity to have an ankle joint replacement in January this year. I had discussions with the consultant who explained the operation to me, going through the procedure, outcome and any risk factors that may occur.
I chose to have the operation at Nuffield Hospital in York, meeting Mr Budgen, the surgeon who was going to carry out the operation, and his pre-operative staff who put me at ease prior to entering hospital and surgery.
I was in hospital and home within 48 hours, Mr Budgen informing me all had gone well and no load bearing to be on the leg for 6 weeks.
I had excellent follow up, after care and physiotherapy at Nuffield Hospital, and this month I have had my final consultation with Mr Budgen with a recall appointment in 12 months time.
The ability to be active again doing things often taken for granted like taking the dog for a walk, days out, enjoying activities with the grand children, all without pre-operation discomfort, and the
general feeling of well being.
Thank you to Mr Budgen his team and staff at Nuffield Hospital.
Thank you to Dr Sarah Blades Haxby Wigginton Health Centre for the first referral.
Thank you for support from NHS.
